Prof. Jean-David Rochaix obtained his PhD degree in Biophysics from Harvard University. After a post-doctoral stay at Yale University he joined the department of Molecular Biology of the University of Geneva where he used the green unicellular alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii and the land plant Arabidopsis thaliana as model systems for studying the biogenesis and regulation of the photosynthetic apparatus. He was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award of the International Society of Photosynthesis Research.
